Perseverance
"Perseverance: to maintain a purpose in spite of difficulties, or simply, to hang in there!"
Yesterday I celebrated a 70-year journey which led me up hills, down valleys, and around many obstacles. This is a journey which we must all make. It definitely requires perseverance!
As parents we must encourage our children top persevere. Each day of their lives is filled with opportunities to learn to improve and make progress. We need to instill confidence in them that we will always be standing by them all the way. To persevere requires every proper manner be learned and practiced. Every mis-step must be met with encouragement and sound advice.
Perseverence is the main, most important ingredient for a job well done, and it is a crucial part of learning to improve one's own self-image. We cannot merely be persistent in nagging and pestering, in order to get our children to do what we think they need to do, we must encourage them. We need to be a cheerleader and coach.
Allow your children to witness your efforts to persevere. Encourage them with love and laughter. They will improve their lives one brick at a time; slowly, steadily, and successfully.
There is no greater gift for a parent than realizing their children, with their guidance, have persevered and are capable to journey their own path of ups and downs.
In celebration my children presented me with such a gift. A hand made quilt which, bare in mind none of them had the slightest idea how to do, required attending quilt classes, planning time together, choosing colors, and over one year of effort.
Because of my children's perseverence, as I journey on and reach yet more obstacles I shall wrap myself in the warmth of my quilt of love.
When a job needs to be done,
A fellow needs to persevere,
But for the job a Goop is not the one,
You need to hang in there dear!
Love Always,
